"Catedral
Iglesia del Sagrario Capilla Real" Is
situated in the center of Granada entered from the Gran Via.
It is the first "iglesia renacentista"
in Spain and dates to 1492, the works starting in 1518 following the Gothic
style of architecture at Toledo
Cathedral. The architect was Diego de Siloé. The high
walls are decorated with
beautiful ceramics, some brought
from Flanders. In the Sacristia, the main article of interest is
a full size Cross
of Marínez Montañes
and below this there is one of the most precious jewels of Spanish art
"La Imaculada
Pequena" a baroque sculpture from
Granada made in 1656 by Alonso Cano. Ib the 1st of May 1º962
it was
declared a Historic Monument, both
the building and the collection within.
